The BFC Experta is a compact heat exchanger espresso machine designed, built and assembled by BFC in Conegliano, Italy, in the Treviso coffee-machine country. A copper boiler with a thermosiphon circuit, a heavy temperature-compensated group and an all-steel body give you the classic café-style workflow of an Italian prosumer machine in a footprint only 9 inches wide. Its triangle-cut side panels make it one of the most recognizable machines you can put on a kitchen counter. And when you buy from Espresso Grove, we cover all installation fees.

Details & Features

The Experta is built around the design that made Italian espresso machines famous. Water from the 1.3 L copper boiler flows through a heat exchanger and a thermosiphon circuit that constantly circulates hot water to the group, so the 4.4 kg temperature-compensated group stays hot and stable shot after shot. Because the steam boiler is always ready, you can pull a shot and steam milk back to back without waiting.

Everything is controlled by hand, the traditional way. Lift the lever on the group to start your shot and lower it to stop, watch your pressure on the front gauge, and use the two star knobs to control the steam wand and the hot water wand. Simple toggle switches and indicator lights on the top panel tell you when the machine is on and ready. It runs from an internal 3 L water tank, so there's nothing to plumb in: fill it, plug it in and start brewing.

BFC builds the Experta entirely from steel, and you can choose the finish that fits your kitchen: polished stainless steel with black or white triangle panels, or a full black or full white body.

Key Features

  • Heat exchanger design: Brew and steam back to back from a single boiler.
  • 1.3 L copper boiler: Copper heats evenly and holds temperature well.
  • Thermosiphon circuit: Continuously circulates hot water to keep the group at brewing temperature.
  • Temperature-compensated group: A traditional 4.4 kg group with lever activation for stable, café-style extraction.
  • Pressure gauge: See your pressure at a glance on the front of the machine.
  • Steam wand and hot water wand: Steam milk for lattes and cappuccinos, and draw hot water for Americanos and tea.
  • 3 L water tank: No plumbing needed; place it anywhere near an outlet.
  • Vibration pump: A simple, proven pump that's easy to service.
  • All-steel construction: Made entirely in steel, with BFC's signature triangle side panels.
  • Compact footprint: Just 9 inches wide, so it fits on counters where larger machines won't.
  • Four finishes: Steel & Black, Steel & White, Black or White.

Who It's For

The BFC Experta is made for home baristas who want a real Italian espresso machine with hands-on control and a look you won't find on other counters. It's a strong fit if you:

  • Are stepping up from a capsule or entry-level machine to your first prosumer espresso machine.
  • Make lattes and cappuccinos and want to steam right after your shot.
  • Have limited counter space and need a narrow machine.
  • Want a design statement as much as a coffee machine.
  • Prefer a tank-fed machine with no plumbing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the BFC Experta work on standard US outlets?
Yes. BFC builds a 110V version of the Experta for US kitchens. Contact us before ordering if you'd like to confirm your outlet and circuit.

Does the Experta need to be plumbed in?
No. It runs from its built-in 3 L water tank, so you just fill it and plug it in.

Do I have to pay for installation?
No. Espresso Grove covers all installation fees for the BFC Experta. Contact us after your order and we'll arrange it.

What is a heat exchanger machine?
A heat exchanger machine uses one boiler kept at steaming temperature, with a separate tube of fresh water running through it for brewing. That means you can pull a shot and steam milk back to back without waiting for the machine to change temperature.

Can I make lattes and cappuccinos with it?
Yes. The steam wand is powered by the 1.3 L copper boiler, and the separate hot water wand is handy for Americanos and tea.

Will it fit on my counter?
Probably. The Experta is only 9.05 in (230 mm) wide, 16.33 in (415 mm) deep and 14.96 in (380 mm) tall. Leave a little extra room above it to refill the water tank.

Which color should I choose?
Steel & Black and Steel & White pair a polished stainless body with black or white triangle panels. Black and White give the whole machine one bold color. Some photos show wood-accent knobs, handle and feet; ask us which accents come with the color you choose.

What grinder should I pair with it?
Any quality espresso grinder will do. Talk to us and we'll help you choose one that fits your budget and your counter.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?
Absolutely. Email Support@EspressoGrove.com or call (980) 890-9050 to talk with a real person.
